How can you make a difference?
The Payments Processing Stream is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and finalizing payments on behalf of UNICEF country offices including but not limited to vendor payments, payments to UNICEF staff, payroll payments and recording incoming funds according to UNICEF financial rules and regulations. Finance Assistant will prepare payment runs, review and action outstanding payments as well as provide client offices with guidance and support on how to resolve outstanding cases in line with SOPs and finance policy.
Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:
- Support the achievement of monthly performance targets for Payments Processing team.
- Prepare payment proposal on behalf of UNICEF country offices ensuring the validity and conformity of payments with the UNICEF existing rules and regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Escalate outstanding or complex requests and issues to Finance Associate colleague or Team Lead for further review, advice or approval.
- Review and action aged payables involving the required stakeholders.
- Support implementation of various stream projects.
- Respond to client transaction status and other inquiries.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Completion of secondary education (i.e., high school diploma) is a minimum requirement. University level courses in finance, accounting or business are desirable.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required. (A completed BA degree from an accredited institution qualifies as 3 years’ experience and will be counted towards work experience requirements.)
- Working knowledge of technical prerequisites relevant for accounts payable transactions is required.
- Experience in ERP systems such as SAP is desirable.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) is required.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills as well as attention to the detail are required.
- Proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
- Work experience with an international organization is an asset.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
