WHAT TO EXPECT

The team you will be joining has a vision to build comprehensive EDS DFMEA’s, design standards and validation methods to support the EDS design teams to deliver best in class, competitive, reliable, safe and regulatory compliant EDS systems for our JLR customer vehicles. Under the leadership of the EDS Technical Specialist and the support of your local team structure you will be responsible for developing new and maintaining current engineering requirements, standards, design rules and test procedures.

In support of these activities, you will be expected to review current and future regulatory requirements that have been prioritised by the EDS product compliance engineer to include engineering text that impacts EDS design into future standards. You will also work with the EDS core pre-Program Start teams to review new design concepts/technologies and identify new EDS related failure modes that do not have coverage in the current EDS foundation DFMEA. You will work with the EDS delivery teams to review their program level DFMEA gap analysis to identify further enhancements to the EDS foundation DFMEA.

As a team in identifying these gaps, the expectation will be to prioritise their importance, author the necessary requirements/standards/design rules/test procedures, review them with the EDS TS and submit them into the JLR approval system. In support of the authoring of new requirements/standards/design rules/test procedures you will be required to research existing industry standards, work with local JLR experts and seek any further guidance that will support their creation. A dashboard shall be created and maintained that shows current gaps identified, progress for inclusion in the DFMEA, prevention control ideas generated and their progress into authored documentation.

Support shall be provided to the EDS delivery teams in understanding and applying the both DFMEA principles and the EDS requirements/standards/design rules.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Set-up and co-ordinate reviews with the EDS pre-PS teams to establish any new EDS failure modes as a result of new concepts, technologies or component interactions.
• Set-up and co-ordinate reviews with the EDS delivery teams to review their program level DFMEA gap analysis to establish any newly identified EDS failure modes.
• Maintain the EDS foundation DFMEA by adding newly identified failure modes and scoring their severity and occurrence.
• Maintain the link between failure modes and prevention controls by updating the foundation DFMEA.
• Authoring modifications to and generating new engineering requirements, standards and design rules for submission into S-DOTS approval.
• You will work with cross CoC Technical Specialists and DVP owners to align them on new requirements, standards or design rules that may impact them or their teams.
• You will work with the EDS delivery team, supplier DVP teams and the JLR test facilities teams to establish clear, testable requirements and standards.
• You will be expected to support and guide the EDS delivery teams in successful DFMEA gap analysis and DFMEA application for EDS.
• You will be expected to support the EDS delivery teams in understanding and applying the EDS requirements, standards and design rules.
• You will manage your own workload and prioritise it accordingly. Visibility of current activities and progress tracking should be available and reviewed weekly to align priorities with the team.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Excellent standards authoring skills. Ability to author clear, concise engineering requirements that capture rationale for why they are needed.
• Ability to develop a simple frame work for authored documentation in a logical way, making it easier to follow.
• Ability to write engineering requirements that are testable and have clear acceptance criteria.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience of overcoming obstacles that hinder progress.
• EDS technical knowledge - understands the technical considerations when selecting/specifying all aspects of an EDS system at a component level.
• Knowledge of DFMEA principles, severity/occurrence/detection scoring method.
• Project management experience.
Good working knowledge of Product Creation Delivery System timeline with respect to EDS.
